Fellow Application ProcessApplications for the 2024-25 TBB Fellowship are now open! The application consists of submitting written responses to questions and a copy of your resume. The following questions will be included in the application: Why are you interested in the fellowship opportunity with this department? Based on your experiences, personal qualities, and characteristics, what skills or resources do you bring to this position? What skills or experiences do you most hope to acquire by the conclusion of this fellowship? Some departments may include additional questions that you must respond to. Students may apply to multiple fellowship positions, but keep in mind that students may only choose one fellowship opportunity to commit to for the 2024-25 academic year. After hosts review application submissions, students will be invited to engage in an interview process with their host department(s)/unit(s) of interest. Students will be notified of their acceptance into the fellowship program via email on a rolling basis. Students begin their fellowship placements at the start of the 2024-25 academic year. How many fellowship opportunities can I commit to? Yes, you may apply to multiple positions. Please keep in mind that you may be asked to engage in multiple interviews and that you may only choose one fellowship opportunity to commit to for the 24-25 academic year. How will I know if I'm selected to be a TBB Fellow? Hosts will contact you directly to set up an interview. Afterward, hosts will confirm their selected candidate(s) and you will receive a contract that must be signed prior to the start of your fellowship. When does the TBB Fellowship start and end? The TBB Fellowship will begin when instruction for each semester starts, and will conclude during the last week of instruction. Fellows are not expected to fulfill hours during administrative holidays or RRR & Finals weeks. How much will I receive for the scholarship? Fellows are eligible to receive up to $7,000 for the 2024-25 academic year. Fellows must complete all program requirements to be eligible for the full scholarship. Scholarships will be disbursed through your financial aid package in four installments throughout the academic year. If you are unsure if your financial aid package will have space for you to receive the scholarship, please meet with a USP Academic Counselor. What does the TBB Fellowship project entail? TBB Fellows will be completing various projects with their host department throughout the academic year. The scope of the projects can vary, as different departments will have different missions & goals for their fellow(s). Each fellowship opportunity includes a fellowship description, which gives a summary of what each department aims to accomplish during the yearlong fellowship. Can I participate in the TBB Fellowship for one semester only? While it is preferred that students commit to the fellowship program for the entire academic year, we understand that you may have unexpected changes to your schedule and capacity. Semester-long fellowships are approved on a case-by-case basis and the scholarship amount will be adjusted. Please contact Camille at tbb@berkeley.edu if you have concerns about your fellowship. Are any of the TBB Fellowship positions completely remote? While there are a few positions that can be done in a hybrid setting, all TBB Fellowship positions will require some level of in-person participation. Will receiving the scholarship for the TBB Fellowship affect my financial aid? The scholarship is disbursed as a Departmental Award through CalCentral. The TBB Fellowship Coordinator will review the amount of space you have available in your financial aid package before disbursing the scholarship and will notify you of any action(s) you may need to take.
