What is UndocuAlly?
The UndocuAlly Training has been available to UC Berkeley staff and faculty who are interested in learning about how they can be allies to undocumented students on campus. Trainings include historical context, what it means to be an ally, student perspectives, Know Your Rights information, and more. For the 25-26 academic year, there will be a couple of training sessions offered each semester. For the Fall semester, the trainings will take place on the following dates:
Friday, October 17 - 9am to 12:30pm
Friday, November 21 - 9am to 12:30pm
If you are able to attend the training on one of these dates, complete this Fall 25 UndocuAllly Training Application by Friday, September 24. If there are still spots available for either training, we will keep the form open longer until capacity has been reached.
If you aren't able to make either of the dates above, complete this UndocuAlly Training Interest Form to receive information about future training dates.
For more information or if you have questions, email undocu@berkeley.edu.
Be an UndocuAlly by providing Inclusive Fellowships
Undocumented students often have access to limited professional development and experiential learnng opportunities. One tangible way to be an UndocuAlly is to offer Inclusive Fellowships. Read more here on how to turn a paid student opportunity into an inclusive fellowship.
Training History
In the spring of 2012, a team of UC Berkeley staff and students came together in support of undocumented students on our campus.
The team began meeting regularly to develop a campus training for staff and faculty, as well as an ally sticker project. “UndocuAlly” is a term the team adopted to refer to campus allies providing trained undocumented student support at Cal. With the support of funding from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Equity & Inclusion and the former Learning + Organizational Development, the team developed and launched this project. The first UndocuAlly Training occurred in spring 2013. The plan was to offer a minimum of one training each semester. Staff/faculty members left this training with an understanding of the history, legislation and current/future realities of this student community. Below please find a directory of faculty and staff who have completed this training.
